Do you worry over things you can’t control? Or things that are going to happen so you might as well make the best of it? No one worries about anything right!? Ha!
Well I’m currently in Salt Lake City with my sweet baby sleeping next to me. But getting to this point came with lots of worry! I was so concerned as we flew an overnight flight. Will she get enough sleep? Will be be fussy? Will her ears bother her? Is she going to get sick? Am I doing the right thing?!?! (Mind you, this is her second time flying and she did amazing the first time – why do we worry? 🙂 ) I was driving myself crazy…and probably everyone around me too. Once we got traveling I said to myself “It is what it is!” I can’t make my baby sleep or her ears not pop. I can pray and embrace the moment making her as comfortable as I can. There might be times when she’s uncomfortable and hurting a little or tired and cranky. But we will cross that bridge when we get there.
I wonder if that’s how God feels about us sometimes. He wants us to be happy and walking a happy life with Him, but He knows there will be pain, sorrow and suffering along the way. He tries to prep us as much as He can but sometimes things in life come as a suprise to us! Much like a babies ears popping on the plane. The parents know it’s coming, but the baby doesn’t understand until it happens! The parents know why it’s happening, but the baby won’t know until they are older and can understand altitude change 🙂
We may not know why we face certain hardships, struggles or joys in our life at the time. But I love how God reveals Himself to us at some of the most amazing times in our lives! Phillipines 4:6-7 has come to mind a lot while traveling and writing this. I know it’s a common verse, but just so comforting! I love the reminder that God will give us peace and understanding! And 1 Peter 5:7 “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
There are so many reminders in the Bible about this subject and I know it’s talked about a lot, but when I face new or stressful situations I often need these verses as reminders and I’m often brought back to prayer as my worrying will do nothing good or helpful!
I pray that as you face times in your life that bring you worry and fear that you too will look to God in verses, prayer and strength. We know it’s going to happen, so let’s turn our worries to him!
Oh, by the way my baby did AMAZING on the flight. Slept most of the time and happy when she was awake! Why did I worry?! 🙂 now praying for the trip home…
In HIS consistent & unwavering love,
